Chicken Stock

Chickens don't get
the sweet respect they earn
every day.

It cannot be easy to give up
all those eggs or
to watch their more robust sisters
become someone's dinner.

Free-range, fresh, fluffed,
raw, cleaned, roasted or fried--
the story of their lives
clucks secret sentences
onto makeshift menus
for The Man:

Feel-good fiction to comfort
the breast of friends.

PROMPT: Magnetic word tiles selected on the basis of what appealed to me that day. (I have LOTS!)
